The hammer, like most weapons starts with a rod. This weapons rod was made out of pure enchanted thorium. Lets start from the bottom.

The pommel is a sky sapphire, carefully embedded so that it stays there and is connected to the thorium rod.

Now the handle. The handle's leather appears to be a type of fur, tanned but keeping its white coloration. At even intervals there are thick bands of copper, these serve to 'catch' enemy blades that strike it, their weapon sinking deeply into the weaker metal. Allowing the wielder to easily counter attack.

Now the juicy bits! The central part of the hammer is made almost entirely out of mithril, a few layers but mostly mithril, there is a central gem, also a sky sapphire set into each side. Below and above it are tiny spikes of sorts, that are in fact longer nails that are drilled though the thorium rod to help attach the mithril weapon head.

To one side of the weapon (lets say left for this sake, even though it does not matter.) lies the blunt end of the hammer. It extends a few inches before becoming wider and longer, its surface is flat and the sides of it are engraved with beautiful decorations made out of gold mostly. A thin plate on the hammering side is made out of enchanted thorium for some extra forward weight.

To the other side, the "right" side of the weapon lies a spike of sorts. Its similar to a sword/pick in that the bottom slopes up to meet the straight top, due to this it ends with a VERY sharp point. On both sides, in gold engravings, makes the spike appear as if a gryphons wings. Trying to assimilate the feathers, its also in the vague shape of a gryphons wing.
Most of the spike is made out of enchanted thorium. To counter the larger mass of the hammer with a denser material.

In total, both ends of the hammer equal each other due to materials, allowing the whole thing to be well balanced.

At several spots there are brilliant runes engraved in truegold, the hammer itself radiates with power as lightning cackles from its various lethal edges.

Powers:
This hammer is a Stormhammer. Accordingly it needs attunement, so that it knows who to return too, and it strikes as if a lightning bolt. A powerful weapon indeed! Each strike of the hammer can bring down its awesome power as it lets out thunderclap after thunderclap with each electrical charge released.

It can be easily recharged by a shaman or a natural thunderstorm, (or elemental, hence shaman.) who can feed lighting to it. As such, the attuned wielder is nearly 100% immune to lightning. Not thunder though, that can still deafen and stun them.

So in other words, it can discharge lightning, sound like thunder, be thrown and it will return, and absorbs most lightning that hits the attuned wielder. (Yes Briskah, you can channel destructive lightning from the small spike at the top of the hammer.)

Another masterful creation by Crura Darkmine. Grandmaster Smith!

5e homebrew stats. For D&D!

:+3 Magic Warhammer

:Acts like a Dwarven Thrower ((It has the thrown property with a normal range of 20 feet and a long range of 60 feet. When you hit with a ranged attack using this weapon, it deals an extra 1d8 damage if the target is a giant/dragon. Immediately after the attack, the weapon flies back to your hand.))

:Acts like a Staff of Thunder and Lightning.
-20 charges, it recharges 2d4+2 at dawn. Or 5 charges if it absorbs lightning. If you expend the final charge roll a d20, on a 20 regain 1d6+1 charges.
-Lightning (2charges)
-Thunder (2charges)
-Lightning Strike (2 charges)
((Lightning: When you hit with an attack using the hammer(Melee or Ranged), you can cause the target to take an extra 2d6 lightning damage.

Thunder: When you hit with a melee attack using the staff, you can cause the hammer to emit a crack of thunder, audible out to 300 feet. The target you hit must succeed on a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or become stunned until the end of your next turn.

Lightning Strike: You can use an action to cause a bolt of lightning to leap from the hammers tip in a line that is 5 feet wide and 120 feet long. Each creature in that line must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 9d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.))

:Regardless of charges it always does an extra 1d6 lightning dmg.

:As a reaction you can block magical or mundane lightning, absorbing it to restore 5 charges. You will always succeed on its check if you use the reaction, taking half damage. (Then a half of that half due to resistance.)

:Grants Resistance to Lightning dmg.
